Q: Are you available for work at the moment?

We generally always have between one and six projects going at a time, and these projects will be at various stages of production. If we get too busy, we’ll update our site here.

Q: What are your rates?

Our rates vary depending on how much work we have to do, the amount of time we have to do that work, and the size of the project. Before we can come up with an estimate we need to get a sense of the scale of the project. Once we have that, we can move on to the next phase.

Q: Are you represented?

Joanna Volpe handles the business side of things for us and represents us in all negotiations. Ms. Volpe has represented LangTime Studio since its inception and has worked separately with David as his representative in Hollywood for over a decade. She’s well versed in the world of language creation.

Q: What type of languages do you do?

Collectively, David and Jessie have created over a hundred languages. They’ve created spoken languages, signed languages, visual languages, musical languages, and even edible languages. They’ve created naturalistic languages, alien languages, auxiliary languages, and everything in between. There’s no linguistic problem they’re unwilling to tackle.

Q: Can you work with cast?

We’ve worked directly on set with cast, served as full dialect coaches, and also worked remotely. Whatever works to get the job done.

Q: Where are you based?

We’re happy to travel to set if necessary.

Q: Do you use AI in your work?

Specifically, we make no use of—and have no interest in using—generative AI/LLMs. Aside from the deleterious environmental impact implicit in the sustained use and growth of LLMs and their dependence on intellectual theft, the results of such work within conlanging have been, without exception, extraordinarily unimpressive. Jessie and David became language creators because they enjoy creating languages. With respect to conlanging, at least, GenAI is a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.
